National Margarita Day!

In case you didn't know, today is National Margarita Day!

Here are a few recipes that I enjoy! *This post is in no way sponsored by Patron Tequila or Skinny Mixers, I just happen to use these products in my cocktails.

No Nonsense Margarita

  • 2 Parts Silver Tequila

  • 1 Part Club Soda

  • Juice of a lime

  • Salt

In glass, put tequila, lime juice and salt in a shaker or glass with ice. Yes, put that salt in the tequila and lime! Shake or stir. Pour into a chilled glass and/or over ice. Top with club soda, garnish with lime wedge and enjoy!

The "nonsense" referenced in the title is a sweet aspect, because I've personally began to enjoy my margarita's less sweet over time. My friend and bartender made this by mistake one night and I said I'd drink it. It's now called a "Christini" at this restaurant for two reasons; she had it in a martini glass that night and since I'm the only one who orders it, we just added on part of my name! I'm well aware that this is just a Tequila and Soda, but my version stems from the accident referenced about and my lack of a sweet tooth in drinks.

Blood Orange Margarita

  • Silver Tequila

  • Skinny Blood Orange Margarita Mixers

  • Lime Juice

  • Orange Juice or Fresh Orange

Following the suggestions on the bottle. Add lime juice and orange juice to your tastes. I served mine over ice, with a garnish of lime.

Make in a frozen margarita as well!

And for those who don't like Margarita's here is one of my favorite Tequlia cocktails that isn't a margarita. Also please click the link to the Patron website for plenty of other cocktail recipes!

Horseradish and/or Hot Sauce, to taste

Olive or pickle juice, to taste

Limes, olives, pickles, celery, bacon or any other garnish you prefer

Chili Salt Spice Blend (I apologize that I do not have exact measurements for this blend, but the recipe is below)

In a glass, mix tequila with the makings of the Bloody Mary mix and stir.

Rim a glass with a lime and dip in Chili Salt Spice Blend; put in ice if you like and pour the mixed cocktail in.

Garnish to your liking.
